At Barefoot, coffee is our life and our passion, and we are totally so-lost-in-love with it. We travel to the countries of origin to find the most conscientious coffee producers and hand select the coffees that take our breath away with joy. Most of our harvests are purchased from farmers we know personally, and the utmost care taken to leave as little of our mark on their hard work as possible. Barefoot pays more for better quality, sustainably grown coffee and works hard to put more money in the hands of the farmers.
We describe our flavors in the literal and fantastical; dark chocolate, guava, maple syrup, mouth-gasm and screaming metal guitar come to mind, because our coffees contain these flavors and sensations intrinsically. Great coffee refuses to be labeled: dark or light; “bold” or “strong”; anonymous or “gourmet”.
It should just taste delicious. And that’s what we do.
The Barefoot Coffee Way:
- Great coffee is the result of the many hands that craft it from the seed on the farm to the cup in your hand.
- Making great tasting coffee takes a lot of hard work, training and commitment.
- You must have the best coffee equipment that is well maintained and clean.
- Every espresso and coffee you make should be the best it can be to honor all of the hard work that went before it.
- Customers deserve and expect the best tasting coffee made by skilled, caring people.
The Partnership:
- Barefoot Coffee is deeply committed to developing long term relationships with our coffee producers at origin and our coffee partners here at home. We expect our wholesale customers to share the same commitment.
- Barefoot practices sustainability in every area. We buy sustainably grown coffee from conscientious growers including Relationship Coffees, Shade Grown, Organic, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance and many other certifications. We recycle, reduce and reuse as much as we can. Our wholesale partners strive for the same.
- Barefoot takes coffee very seriously. We work very hard to apply leading edge techniques, science, equipment, theories and passion to hand craft the best cup of coffee or espresso. It is hard work pursuing perfection. It’s worth it. Our wholesale partners take it as seriously and work hard to make great coffee. This means committing to continuous training for all hands that touch the coffee. It is not a one time class, it is a never ending journey of love. It is hands-on coffee and Barista training for all staff.
- Great coffee can not be automated. It requires skilled hands and hearts to make it right. Barefoot does not automate any part of sourcing, roasting or making great coffee. Neither do our customer partners.
- True sustainability requires diligence and careful planning. Barefoot will enthusiastically share expertise and insight in every area of your business to help you grow and be successful. From your P & L to Barista training to menu design to making your business more environmentally friendly.
- Barefoot makes the entire connection from farmer to cup transparent and open. Our wholesale customers and their consumers know in detail exactly who grew the coffee, where and how it was grown, the varietals and elevation and all of the flavor nuances. Our wholesale partners honestly and openly continue this connection all the way to the cup in the consumers hand.
- Coffee is an agricultural product that is highly perishable. Freshness is paramount. Barefoot does not sell or serve any coffee older than 14 days after roast, no matter what. After 14 days the coffee is stale, flat and starting to go rancid. It is not servable and not sellable. It gets donated to charity. Our wholesale partners adhere to the same standards and encourage their consumers to drink fresh roasted coffee.
- Barefoot uses only the best quality, industry leading equipment to roast and prepare our coffee. That means Probat roasters, LaMarzocco, Nuova Simonelli Aurelia and Della Corte espresso machines and grinders, Fetco brewers, Mazzer and Mahlkoenig grinders and Everpure and Cirqua water filtration. Our wholesale partners use the same high quality coffee equipment and keep them well maintained and exceptionally clean.
If you are convinced that you have what it takes to honor the coffee farmers’ hard work and love that they put into every bean and you are excited about aligning your company with these standards then we are ready to empower your team to make sweet coffee love every day.
If you love the coffee, it loves you back.
