Importers are the unsung heroes of the Specialty Coffee world. They are quite literally the feet on the ground and the pen to the paper. If you ever wondered how the heck that amazing coffee made it’s crazy way down from the highlands of Huehuetenango and all the way through the maze of politics and police all the way to our roaster; it’s the importers. They literally make sure the coffee actually moves through the entire chain.
Sometimes they are the ones who find a great coffee and bring it to market hoping that others will also love it and buy it. Sometimes us roastes contract with them to bring the coffee we find ourselves out of the paperwork malaise and shepherd it safely to our doors. Sometimes they are the producers themselves as they look to take on even more of the value add to their operation. Either way they do a fantastic and valuable service.
